Pediatric Surgery Congenital Segmental Dilatation of Colon

چکیده
Segmented dilatation of the colon belongs to the group of poorly understood dysmotility disorders of colon related to Hirschsprung's disease but without abnormality of ganglion cells. Of the fourteen previously reported cases of segmental dilatation of colon in the English literature, only two had presented in the neonatal age(l,2). We report a similar case and highlight the features common to this entity and congenital short colon seen in association with imperforate anus.

Segmental Dilatation of Near Total Colon Managed by Colon Preserving Surgery
Segmental dilatation of the colon is a rare congenital disorder of colonic motility and often involves a short segment that causes chronic constipation in children. There are only 10 cases of neonatal colonic segmental dilatation described in literature. We managed a case who presented in the neonatal period with abdominal distension. There was dilatation of whole of the colon except part of as...
متن کاملMultiple Congenital Segmental Dilatations of Colon: A Case Report
Congenital segmental dilatation of colon (CSDC) is a rare malformation in neonates. A single segmental dilatation of colon is mentioned in the available case reports. Not a single case of multiple CSDC is reported hitherto. We report a case of multiple CSDC associated with cleft lip and palate, and rectal atresia.

Only ten cases of neonatal congenital segmental dilatation (CSD) of the colon have been described so far. We present a full-term female newborn with trisomy 21, ventricular septal defect, and gross abdominal distension. Plain abdominal radiographs revealed a huge cystic lesion occupying the left hemiabdomen. Upon laparotomy on day 4 a CSD of the distal sigmoid and proximal rectum was confirmed ...

Congenital segmental dilatation of the colon belongs to a group of Hirschsprung's-like diseases with normal ganglion cells. The presentation is with chronic constipation affecting older children. We report a neonate with congenital segmental dilatation of the colon associated with sigmoid atresia. The child is well after a colostomy.
متن کاملVaried Presentation of Congenital Segmental Dilatation of the Intestine in Neonates: Report of Three Cases
Congenital segmental dilatation (CSD) of the intestine is a rare developmental anomaly characterized by sharply demarcated dilatation of a gastrointestinal segment and may present with intestinal obstruction. We report three cases of CSD of the intestine in neonates with varied presentation. First patient was mistaken as pneumoperitoneum on abdominal radiograph, which led to initial abdominal d...
